Biography:
Cllr. James N. Kumeh is a Senior Legal Partner at Torch Professional Consultancy, Inc. He is a Liberian attorney with more than two decades of service across the bench, public administration, and private practice. Admitted as a Counsellor at Law before the Honorable Supreme Court of Liberia, he focuses on criminal, civil, and corporate matters, as well as public-sector governance and institutional reform. He currently serves as
Cllr. Kumeh’s public-service record includes appointment as Judge of the Monrovia Traffic Court (2004–2009) and senior administrative leadership within the Supreme Court of Liberia, where he advanced through procurement and supply roles to Director of Procurement & Supply. In private practice, he has held senior partnership roles (including with Verdier & Associates and Pearson Legal & Business Consultancy Corporation) and since 2023 has served as a Senior Legal Consultant to the Governance Commission.
A committed educator, he has lectured at the University of Liberia (College of Business & Public Administration, 2005–2010) and the Wilfred E. Clarke College of Criminal Justice Administration at African Methodist Zion University (2016–present), training future public administrators and justice-sector professionals. His professional interests include access to justice, youth inclusion, and strengthening equality and peaceful co-existence in communities.
